Electrostatic field meter or also known as electrostatic meter (electrostatic field meter) is a device used in the electrostatic control industry.
The device is used to measure the contactless charge on an object. The device measures the force between the induced charges in the sensor and the charge present on the surface of the object. This force is converted into voltage, measuring both the initial peak voltage and the rate at which it decays.
The operation of the electrostatic meter is based on the discharge of a floating electrode: The corona source charges a floating electrode, which discharges at a regular repetition frequency to the earth electrode. The repetition frequency of the discharge is the measured variable, which is a function of the background electrostatic field. In addition to the control of static charges in environments sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD).
