The strategy of the Group’s Industrial Measurement Business Unit (IMBU) for the coming decades is to continue to advance together with customers worldwide, taking collaboration to the next level to jointly create innovative measurement solutions that are second to none. To achieve this goal, cradle-to-grave business relationships with customers are paramount.
The days of simply providing a measurement product are long gone. The bottom line is that IMBU provides integrated, optimized, highly accurate solutions that are not only customized and cost-effective, but also work extremely well out of the box; and the business unit continually works with customers to improve them further.
A recent development under Nikon’s Digital Manufacturing banner is closer collaboration between IMBU and the group’s Digital Solutions Business Unit (DSBU), which has introduced the Lasermeister series of optical machining machines. These are capable of both additive and subtractive machining of a wide range of materials to sub-micron surface finishes. This level of precision is well suited to the production of high-precision components, as well as the micro-manufacturing of precision molds and linear guides that require extremely accurate surfaces. IMBU will provide the high level of metrology expertise required for these demanding applications.
