Rion was founded in 1944 as Kobayasi-riken Co., Ltd. in Japan, specializing in the production of sound and vibration measuring devices.
Rion began manufacturing crystal components for audio equipment and their application products, being the first to manufacture such products in Japan.
In 1960, Kobayasi-riken changed its name to Rion, derived from Ri in Rigaku meaning science + On in Onkyogaku meaning acoustics.
In addition to hearing aids, Rion also provides a wide range of products for various fields. Typical medical instruments are sound meters used in the field of otolaryngology. Government agencies and industries require sound and vibration measuring instruments to protect the environment and quality in production.
