AwView Water Activity Meter
AwView is a water activity measuring device that complies with the Food Sanitation Act. The sensor is equipped with a resistive sensor. Measurements with AwView are performed from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
This device is more affordable than conventional water activity meters and can easily measure water activity (Aw), which is closely related to microbial growth in food. This device can also be used for HACCP compliance in food hygiene management.
Measurements and calibrations can be performed by connecting to a dedicated application.
Measurement reports are automatically generated after measurement.
The Aw value result is displayed after 10 minutes.

Water activity represents the percentage of free water in a food product and is expressed as a number ranging from 0 to 1.
The higher the number, the more free water there is, which means the food is more susceptible to microbial proliferation (lower shelf life).
On the other hand, if the water activity value is too low, it can cause changes in the texture, flavor, characteristics, etc.
Understanding the appropriate water activity value for each food can lead to safety and deliciousness.
AwView is a water activity measuring instrument that complies with the Food Sanitation Act. The sensor unit is equipped with an electrical resistance sensor. Measurements with AwView are performed from a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet.
It is more reasonably priced than conventional water activity measuring devices and can easily measure water activity (Aw), which is closely related to the proliferation of microorganisms in food. It can also be introduced to comply with HACCP in food hygiene management.
SHINYEI Japan AwView measured the water activity of a chiffon cake.
AwView uses Bluetooth® wireless technology to wirelessly connect to mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The device is small and lightweight, making it easy to carry and allowing you to take measurements anywhere, anytime.
To measure, put an appropriate amount of sample into the sample cup, set it in the AwView, and start the measurement from the app. After 10 minutes, you can check the measurement results on the app.
The app can also create reports from the measurement data. The reports are created in PDF format and can be used as highly reliable data that cannot be tampered with. Reports can also be sent by email to a computer or other device.
AwView can be used to check the shelf life of a variety of foods, including jams, prosciutto, sausages, sauces, retort foods, jellies, beans, confectioneries, and bread.
iOS *iOS 11.0 or later
The entire measurement flow, from starting the measurement to checking the results and creating reports, can be completed with the dedicated app “AwView.” Since no complicated settings are required, anyone with a mobile device such as a smartphone can start measuring water activity.
