CHLORIDE IN CLEAN WATER

As one of the major inorganic anions in water and wastewater, chloride is commonly measured in industry. Due to the corrosive nature of chloride, chloride concentrations are monitored in boiler systems and cooling towers to prevent damage to metal components. Non-toxic to humans, chloride is monitored in drinking water for aesthetic purposes because chlorine can affect taste. However, chloride can be harmful to plant life. Chloride can be monitored in agricultural applications in some areas of the world where salinity is naturally high.
