Bromide Half-Cell Electrode HI4002

Producer:
SKU: HANNA-HI4002 Category:

The HI4002 is a solid-state half-cell ion selective electrode (ISE) for the determination of bromide (Br) in solution. The silver bromide sensing particles generate a potential change due to the exchange of nitrate ions between the organic polymer membrane and the sample. The internal sensing elements are housed in a durable epoxy body.

The HI4002 is ideal for a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical industry, laboratories, drinking water and wastewater treatment, food and beverage manufacturing, and in the printing process.

Solid state sensors

Measures from 0.08 to 79,910 mg/L Br

Required for use with HI5315 reference electrode

The HI4002 bromide ion selective electrode is a half-cell sensor housed in an epoxy body. The elements contained are isolated from the sample by a silver bromide sensing membrane. This solid-state sensor requires a separate reference electrode to complete the measurement system.

Hanna solid state half-cell electrodes are designed for use with the HI5315 conical junction reference electrode. The conical reference forms a liquid junction with the sample solution at the tip of the conical junction, providing a very stable reference current and a consistent flow rate of electrolyte into the solution.

To HI4002 measure bromide For accuracy, it is important that the ionic strength of the standards and samples is adjusted to a high and constant value with nitrate ionic strength adjuster (ISA). The ISA ensures that the activity coefficient is constant so that the concentration of free bromide ions can be measured. Measuring all solutions at a constant ionic strength reduces the margin of error between measurements. Solid-state ISE bromide The HI4002 can measure from 1µM (0.08 mg/L) to 1M (79910 mg/L).

Outstanding features

Fixed sensor module – Solid-state half-cell ISE is an electrode that detects free ions in a solution. Highly insoluble compressed sensing tablets are attached to the HI4002 bromide half-cell by a fixed sensing module for ease of use.

Durable epoxy body – The half-cell bromide probe body is made of durable epoxy resin.

BNC connection – HI4002 has a universal BNC connector that easily connects to any meter with a female BNC input.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

A solid-state sensor electrode develops a voltage due to ion exchange occurring between the solution and the inorganic membrane. Equilibration occurs due to the high solubility of the membrane material in the sample. When the ionic strength of the solution is fixed by the addition of ISA, the voltage is proportional to the concentration of free ions in the solution.
