Force and mechanical measuring equipment
The FC232D is a single junction amplified pH electrode with an integrated temperature sensor and connects to the meter with a DIN connector.
The FC232D electrode features a food grade PVDF body, open junction design with viscolene gel electrolyte, low temperature glass sensor and conical sensor tip. This design is ideal for pH measurements in meat products. The recommended operating temperature range is 0-50°C.
Low Temperature Glass
Stainless steel piercing head (optional)
Open joint
The FC232D uses low temperature (LT) glass, a conical sensor head, food grade PVDF body, open junction, and viscolene gel electrolyte.
Low Temperature Glass
The electrode tip uses LT (low temperature) glass which has an impedance of approximately 50 megaohms at 25°C compared to general purpose (GP) glass which has an impedance of 100 megaohms. This is advantageous as most foods are stored at low temperatures. As the temperature of the glass decreases in the sample, the impedance of the LT glass approaches that of the GP glass. If GP glass is used, the impedance will increase above the optimum range, increasing the impedance and ultimately affecting the measurement. The FC232D is suitable for use with samples measuring between 0 and 50°C.
Conical electrode tip
The conical electrode tip allows penetration into solid, semi-solid, and emulsified products for direct measurement of pH in food products.
Stainless steel blade
An optional stainless steel blade is attached to the probe for easy penetration of meat, even in frozen samples. Cutting into the meat will allow the pH glass and reference junction to come into contact with the sample, allowing direct pH measurement without extensive sample preparation. The FC098 (20mm; 0.75″) and FC099 (35mm; 1.38″) are a set of two stainless steel blades for use with the FC232D electrode.
PVDF body
Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a food grade plastic that is most resistant to chemicals and solvents, including sodium hypochlorite. PVDF resin resists abrasion, mechanical strength and is resistant to ultraviolet and nuclear rays. PVDF is also mold resistant.
Open reference junction
Suspended solids and proteins commonly found in food products will clog the conventional ceramic reference junction, resulting in slower response times, erratic readings, and the need for electrode replacement. frequent. The open junction design includes a solid gel (viscolene) interface between the sample and the internal Ag/AgCl reference. This design not only prevents silver from entering the sample, but also prevents clogging, providing fast response and stable readings.
DIN connector
The FC232D has a DIN connection that can only be used with the HI99163 portable pH/temperature meter.
