Force and mechanical measuring equipment
The HI10480 is a digital pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor. This application specific electrode is designed to measure pH in wine and wine must. Measuring the pH of wine is an important step in ensuring the quality of the final product.
This electrode has an integrated microchip that stores sensor type, serial number, and calibration information. Dual reference junction, Clogging Prevention System (CPS) technology, glass body, and spherical tip. This probe has a 3.5 mm connector specifically designed for use with the HAnna Edgee.

Microchip integration
The integrated microchip stores sensor type, serial number and calibration information including date, time, slope, offset, probe status and buffers used. This information is automatically retrieved by Edge when the electrode is connected. Fast exchange of probe information without the need for recalibration. All pH measurements are performed with the electrode and meter digitally. This eliminates analog noise found in traditional high impedance analog measurement systems. Electrical noise can be generated from the built-in temperature sensor and humid environments.
Spherical glass head
The spherical sensing tip design allows for a larger surface area in contact with the sample resulting in a faster response with greater stability. The HI10480 uses low temperature (LT) glass. A pH electrode has a resistance of 50 megaohms at 25°C. As the temperature of the glass decreases in the sample, the resistance of the LT glass approaches glass GP. If used glass GP, the resistance will increase to the maximum, leading to increased impedance and eventually affecting the measurement. The HI10480 is suitable for use with samples that measure between 0 and 80°C.
CPS Anti-Clog Button
CPS™ (Clogging Prevention System) is an innovation in electrode technology. Conventional pH electrodes use ceramic junctions that clog quickly when used in wine. When the junction becomes clogged, the electrode will not function. CPS™ technology uses the porosity of the ground glass combined with a PTFE sleeve to prevent junction clogging. The ground glass allows for proper liquid flow, while the PTFE sleeve prevents dirt from getting in. As a result, pH electrodes with CPS™ can be refreshed up to 20 times longer than conventional electrodes.
Glass body
The glass body of the electrode is suitable for many applications due to its chemical resistance. The glass electrode is compatible with many non-aqueous solvents and other aggressive chemicals. The glass is also resistant to many forms of radiation, such as ultraviolet radiation.
Double reference joint
A double electrode junction has an internal reservoir that surrounds the reference wires. Silver ions are contained in the electrolyte of the internal reservoir, which holds the Ag/AgCl reference wire; the electrolyte outside the chamber is silver-free. The double junction design prevents silver from passing from the electrode to the sample. This design allows measurements in applications where silver ions are not desired in the sample or where silver precipitation on the junction is prevented.
