Force and mechanical measuring equipment
The HI11310 is a glass body, refillable, double junction pH electrode with a built-in temperature sensor. The electrode connects to the meter using a dedicated 3.5mm port for digital electrodes.
The electrode incorporates a microchip that stores sensor type, serial number, and calibration information. The HI11310 has a single ceramic junction and spherical pH sensing element made of high temperature glass. This design is ideal for general purpose laboratory use.

Microchip integration
The integrated microchip stores sensor type, serial number and calibration information including date, time, slope, offset, probe condition and buffers used. This information is automatically retrieved by the digital meter when the electrode is plugged in. The ability to transfer information allows for quick exchange of probes without the need for recalibration. All pH measurements are made in the electrode and transferred digitally to the meter. This helps to avoid noise associated with traditional high impedance analog measurement systems. Electrical noise can be generated from the built-in temperature sensor and when working in humid environments.
Spherical glass head
The spherical sensing tip design provides a larger surface area in contact with the sample resulting in a faster response with greater stability. The HI11310 uses a high temperature (HT) glass. A pH electrode with general purpose (GP) glass will have a resistance of 100 megaohms at 25°C while the resistance of HT glass is approximately 400 megaohms at 25°C. As the HI11310 is used at elevated temperatures the resistance will decrease to that of GP glass. The HI11310 is suitable for use with samples that measure from -5 to 100°C.
Glass body
The glass body of the electrode is suitable for many applications due to its chemical resistance. The glass electrode is compatible with many non-aqueous solvents and other aggressive chemicals. The glass is also resistant to many forms of radiation, such as ultraviolet radiation.
Double reference joint
A double electrode junction has an internal reservoir that surrounds the reference wires. Silver ions are contained in the electrolyte of the internal reservoir, which holds the Ag/AgCl reference wire; the electrolyte outside the chamber is silver-free. The double junction design prevents silver from passing from the electrode to the sample. This design allows measurements in applications where silver ions are not desired in the sample or where silver precipitation on the junction is prevented.
