Force and mechanical measuring equipment
Operation on the Magna-Mike is simple. Measurements are taken by holding its magnetic probe on one side of the material to be measured and a steel ball on the opposite side. A Hall effect sensor built into the probe measures the distance from the tip of the probe to the steel ball. The measurement is immediately displayed as an easy-to-read digital thickness value.
Plastic bottles
In applications such as plastic containers, a small steel ball is dropped into the container. The magnetic probe is held outside and attracts the ball. As the probe is scanned along the surface or critical angles, the ball rolls. In Minimum mode, the instrument always displays both the actual thickness value and the minimum thickness.
Other applications
The Magna-Mike 8500 is ideal for measuring parts with complex shapes and dimensions. It allows measuring thickness at small points in tight corners and grooves up to 1/32” radius. Magna-Mike has been very successful in quality control programs for glass and aluminum containers, composite parts in aerospace, medical packaging, automotive panels and other parts made from non-magnetic materials.
Outstanding features: Minimum mode continuously displays the smallest measured value
• Lightweight, portable (2.1 lb.)
• Few keys for simple operation
• Backlit LCD with large display numbers
• Thickness measurement speed up to 16/second
• Measures minimum thickness in narrow angle
• Easily measure the center of large parts
• Accuracy does not depend on shape or properties of the material
• The logger can store up to 95,000 measurement values
OLYMPUS Thickness gauge
Model : Magna-Mike 8600
The Magna-Mike® 8600 is a portable thickness gage that uses a simple magnetic method to make reliable and repeatable measurements on nonferrous materials.
Operation of the Magna-Mike is very simple. Measurements are made when its magnetic probe is held or scanned on one side of the test material and a small target ball (or disk or wire) is placed on the opposite side or dropped inside a container. The probe's Hall Effect sensor measures the distance between the probe tip and target ball.
The measurements are instantly displayed on the large color thickness display as an easy-to-read digital thickness reading.
