The HI7042S is an electrolyte solution for galvanic dissolved oxygen probes. Galvanic sensor technology requires no external voltage when the potential difference between the cathode and anode is greater than 0.5 volts. The Galvanic DO sensor consists of two electrodes, a zinc anode and a silver cathode, both immersed in an electrolyte solution. Oxygen permeates through the anode and cathode from the water being measured. Oxygen diffuses through the membrane and interacts with the inside of the probe to produce a current that is proportional to the oxygen concentration in a solution.

Product's name |
Electrolytic solution used to fill the galvanic electrode with dissolved oxygen. |
Specifications |
– 30mL dropper bottle – Colorless solution: The solution does not contain any dyes that could yellow or contaminate the electrode components. |
Using |
1. Rinse the HI76409A/P membrane cap with a small amount of HI7042 electrolyte solution, shaking gently while rinsing. 2. Place the O-ring in the correct position on the inside of the membrane cover. 3. Fill the HI7042 bottle with fresh electrolyte solution. 4. Use your finger to gently tap the edge of the membrane cap to ensure there are no trapped air bubbles. Do not tap the membrane directly from the bottom up to avoid damaging the membrane. 5. With the sensor tip facing down, screw the membrane cap onto the probe clockwise. A few drops of electrolyte solution will spill out to be exact. |
Methods of preservation |
– BStore membrane caps at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. – Do not reuse the old membrane cap after inserting it into the electrode. – Always use fresh HI7042 electrolyte solution. – When not in use and during polarization, remove the membrane cap and discard the old electrolyte solution inside, then dry the probe and cover the probe with the red and black transport cap originally supplied.. THE ELECTRODE WILL OXIDATE AND BE COMPLETELY DAMAGED IF THE ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION IS LEFT UNUSED FOR TOO LONG TIME. – After use, cover and store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight – DO NOT dilute or add any chemicals to the solution. – Always use fresh solution for each use. – ABSOLUTELY do not pour used solution back into the bottle. – DO NOT use expired products. |
