HI700635P is a highly effective cleaning solution specifically formulated for use with pH electrodes that have been coated with wine juice and scale. Electrodes can become dirty with use and will produce inaccurate readings even if they read accurately in pH buffer solutions. Hanna’s cleaning solution removes impurities and scale that may remain on the electrode surface when dipped in samples during measurement and improperly stored. Hanna recommends cleaning the bulb and junction of the electrode regularly to ensure that the electrode remains clean and to avoid any clogging of the junction. Measuring pH in wine is an important step in ensuring the quality of the final product, for more information, read the HANNA ebook.
The most common cause of measurement inaccuracies is unclean or improperly cleaned electrodes. This is important to note, as during calibration the meter will assume that the electrodes are clean and the calibration curve generated during calibration will remain a valid reference comparison until the next calibration. pH meters on the market today will allow for a voltage offset of approximately ± 60 mV. Deviation from 0 mV is unusual but ideally should not be greater than ± 30 mV. The calibration process compensates for the change in voltage offset. If the mV offset continues to drift and the meter is calibrated with a dirty electrode, inaccurate results will result.

Uses |
Electrode cleaning solution after measuring pH in wine |
Specifications |
– 1 box has 25 packs – 20mL packet. – Colorless solution: The solution does not contain any dyes that could yellow or stain the electrode junction or reference cell. |
Using |
– Pour enough cleaning solution into a clean plastic cup so that the electrode, sensor and junction are completely submerged in the solution. – Soak the electrode for 30 minutes (if necessary – see details in the meter's instruction manual). – Gently stir and rinse the electrode in cleaning solution Immediately after measurement to dissolve dirt, do not scrub to scratch the glass pH sensor bulb inside, then use a paper towel to absorb excess water (do not wipe). – Use a paper towel to gently absorb water around the electrode. |
Methods of preservation |
– After use, cover and store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight – Do not dilute or add any chemicals to the solution. – Always use fresh solution for each use. – ABSOLUTELY do not pour used solution back into the bottle. |
