SAOB Solution for Sulfite Electrodes, 500mL HI4015-00

Producer:
SKU: HANNA-HI4015-00 Category:

SAOB is a sulfite antioxidant buffer solution.

– Used for ion selective electrodes measuring sulfite.

– Very necessary when measuring sulfite.

HI4015-00 is a sulfite ion strength adjuster (ISA) solution for use with ion selective electrodes. sulfite (ISEs). Hanna ISA solutions are used to fix the ionic strength of the sample and the standard solutions so that both are constant. Without the addition of ISA, the ion selective electrode will measure the ion activity resulting in inaccurate measurements; ISA also stabilizes the ionic strength and allows measurements to be made as ion concentrations. With some ISEs, ISA solutions are also used to adjust the pH solution or to remove any potential interferences from competing ions present.

The importance of ISA solution*
- Adjust the ion activity to be constant so that the concentration can be determined.
- Adjusting the pH of the solution is necessary for some ISEs
- Complexes interfere with ions in a sample to allow measurement of free ions
* If an ISA solution is used with a sample, it must be used with the calibration solutions in equal proportions.
