Force and mechanical measuring equipment
The HI96832 is a rugged, portable digital refractometer designed for the measurement of percent mass and freezing point of propylene glycol of the solution. The HI96832 has a high accuracy of ±0.2% volume and ±0.5°C freezing point and features simple operation for reliable results every time. All readings are automatically compensated for temperature variations and displayed within a 1.5 second response time. The tightly sealed flint glass prism and stainless steel construction are easy to clean. Simply wipe with a soft cloth before the next sample is prepared.
The HI96832 is a digital refractometer for the determination of percent mass and freezing point of propylene glycol.propylene Glycol is used in glycol cooling systems for industrial applications. Maintaining the proper glycol percentage is important in glycol cooling systems as too little can cause the system to freeze and rupture, while too much glycol will reduce the efficiency of the system. The meter converts the refractive index of a sample to percent volume or freezing point. These conversions are based on internationally recognized references for unit conversions and temperature compensation for glycol solutions (e.g. CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 87th edition). The HI96831 is an easy-to-use instrument for measuring freezing point and percent volume in ethylene glycol solutions, in the field or in the laboratory.
– Design for analysis propylene glycol
– Automatic temperature compensation
– Volumetric scale 0 – 100% with accuracy ±0.2%
– Freezing point scale 0 to -50oC with accuracy ±0.5oC
UNIT OF MEASUREMENT
The freezing point is displayed as a temperature from 0.0 to -51.0°C corresponding to 0-60% volume. When the display shows “LO”, the freezing point is at its minimum (below -51°C).Refractive index
The HI96832 allows for measurements based on a sample's refractive index. Refractive index is a measurement of how light passes through a sample. Depending on the sample's composition, light will refract and reflect. radiation differently. By measuring this with a linear image sensor, the refractive index radiation of the sample can be evaluated and used to determine its physical properties such as concentration and density. In addition to the linear image sensor, the HI96832 uses an LED light, prism and lens to make measurements.
Temperature variations will affect the accuracy of refraction results, so temperature compensation is essential.n essential for reliable results. The HI96832 incorporates a built-in temperature sensor and is programmed with specialized algorithms that then apply temperature compensation to the measurements.
