ALKALINE IN WATER
Alkalinity in water is the sum of the carbonate, bicarbonate, hydroxide, phosphate, borate and organic acid salts; but is usually calculated based on the content of three main forms: carbonate hydroxide and bicarbonate.
Alkalinity of water represents the ability of water to resist changes in pH, low alkalinity content indicates water is susceptible to pH changes, while high content indicates water has the ability to maintain a high pH. In addition, alkalinity is often used to determine the corrosiveness and estimate the hardness of water.
COMPACT MINI TITRATE COMBINED WITH BENCH pH
As a pH/mV meter: in addition to being a titrator, the HI84531 can also be used as a benchtop pH meter, with automatic temperature compensation, automatic buffer recognition, up to 3-point calibration, ±0.01pH accuracy, and GLP data storage.
PILOT PUMP
The most important device of HI84531 is the piston pump. Using a motor to control the operation of the piston makes it easier to control the pumping process, and the amount of reagent pumped out is also more accurate. The pumping mode is set to dynamic, so the amount of reagent pumped in will change depending on the change in potential in the sample after each pump, so when titrating, the machine will pump more reagent to shorten the time, when approaching the end point of the reaction, the amount of reagent will gradually decrease to ensure the accuracy of the measurement process.
pH ELECTRODE WITH GLASS BODY, SPHERICAL ELECTRODE TIP
Ideal for laboratory use. Glass is resistant to many harsh chemicals and can be easily cleaned. The glass body also allows rapid heat transfer to the internal reference electrolysis. The mV generated by the reference cells is temperature dependent. The equilibrium state stabilizes faster than the reference potential.
RE-FILLING THE ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION
HI1131 is double junction pH electrode so the filling solution is HI7082 3.5M KCl. This solution does not contain silver as with single junction electrodes. The absence of silver will prevent silver precipitate from forming at the contact surface and clogging. A blockage at the connection will cause the results to drift and be unstable.
Glass pH electrode
The HI84531 is supplied with the HI1131B combined electrode, which features a spherical glass membrane with a large surface area, making it an excellent device for direct measurements or for use in acid-base titrations in the water industry.
Piston pump.
Magnetic stirring feature.
The magnetic stirrer is integrated into the machine, automatically maintaining a speed of 600 rpm, making it easy to titrate highly viscous samples.
On-screen features
Easy-to-use interface: HI84531 has a user-friendly design, sharp keypad, large screen for easy use. In addition, the device is installed with a tutorial software, when activated, will guide the user on how to use the device step by step. During use, if there are any questions, the user can press the HELP key for information support.
Warning sign: users will be alerted in case errors occur when using the machine (eg: reagent volume exceeds the allowable limit..)
Graph mode: the mini titrator displays data throughout the titration, including real-time graphs.
Logging on Demand: The HI84531 allows for logging of up to 400 samples: 200 titration results and 200 pH/mV measurements. These data can be stored to a USB drive or transferred to a PC via the USB port.
As a pH/mV meter: in addition to being a titrator, the HI84531 can also be used as a benchtop pH meter, with automatic temperature compensation, automatic buffer recognition, up to 3-point calibration, ±0.01pH accuracy, and GLP data storage.
CAL Check feature. The machine will automatically analyze the electrode response signal during the calibration process and notify the user of problems that may affect the measurement results such as contaminated buffer solution, dirty electrode or cracking… the CAL Check feature not only ensures the accuracy of pH measurements but also helps ensure accuracy in determining the end point of the titration process.
