ASKER hardness tester code C1L (Type C), manufactured since 1956, is the world's de facto standard hardness tester for measuring the hardness of soft rubber, soft foam such as shoe soles, EVA foam, etc.

ASKER Durometer Type C1L Widely used for measuring soft rubber, sponges, and other foam elastomers, as well as rolled-threads, -films and textile windings (yarn packages).
Pic.: EVA sponge foam is measured in degrees of hardness using an Asker C gauge.
Standard about physical test method of polyurethane Elastomer.
In addition, type C for low hardness range is called ASKER C1L is the same product ASKER-C.
It complies with hardness test of JIS K 7312 JIS S 6050 “Plastic eraser”.
