AMCO AEPA-1 TURBIDITY STANDARD SOLUTION
AMCO AEPA-1 is a USEPA approved primary standard. The non-toxic standard is made of styrene divinylbenzene polymer that is uniform in size and density. The standard solution is reusable until the end of its shelf life and is of stable quality with a long shelf life.
GLP DATA
The HI98713 features complete GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) features allowing traceability of calibration conditions. Data includes calibration points, date, and time.
DATA RECORDING MATERIAL
Up to 200 measurements can be stored in internal memory and can be recalled at any time.
CONNECT TO COMPUTER
For further storage or analysis, logged data can be downloaded to a Windows computer using the USB port and HI92000 software.
FAST TRACKERTM
For advanced field applications, the HI98713 is equipped with Fast Tracker.
The Tag Identification System (TIS) makes data collection and management simpler than ever.
Fast Tracker allows users to record the time and location of a specific measurement or series of measurements by placing iButton® tags near sampling points for quick and easy reading. Each iButton® tag contains a computer chip with a unique identification code encased in stainless steel.

IMPORTANCE
Turbidity is one of the most important parameters used to determine the quality of drinking water. Turbidity is considered a characteristic for identifying pathogens in drinking water. In natural waters, turbidity measurements are performed to assess the general quality of water and its suitability for applications involving aquatic organisms. Wastewater monitoring and treatment were once based solely on turbidity control. Nowadays, turbidity measurements at the end of wastewater treatment are necessary to verify that values are within regulatory standards.
Turbidity of water is an optical property that causes light to be scattered and absorbed rather than transmitted. The scattering of light passing through a liquid is primarily caused by the suspended solids present. The higher the turbidity, the greater the amount of scattered light. Even a pure liquid will scatter light to some extent, meaning that no solution has a turbidity value of zero.
Drinking water from water treatment plants is obtained from surface waters subject to EPA requirements for monitoring and reporting of turbidity. Surface water sources include lakes and rivers. The requirements for turbidity measurement and reporting according to EPA Method 180.1 are:
– The applicable scale is 0-40 nephelometric turbidity units (NTU)
– Light Source: Tungsten lamp operating at color temperature from 2200-3000°K.
– Distance of passage of incident light and scattered light in the sample tube: Total not exceeding 10 cm
– The sensitivity of the instrument allows detection of a turbidity difference of 0.02 NTU or less than 1 unit.
– Read the results as follows:
