CARBON DIOXIDE IN WATER
Natural rivers and lakes contain less than 10 mg/L of carbon dioxide. However, stagnant or polluted water can produce large amounts of carbon dioxide through organic or mineral decomposition. High concentrations of carbon dioxide in water are corrosive and harmful to aquatic life. Testing and monitoring of carbon dioxide concentrations is also important in man-made environments. Carbon dioxide is added to drinking water as a final stage of water purification. In water softening systems, a carbon dioxide balance must be maintained to prevent corrosion or scaling of pipes and tanks.
MEASUREMENT OF CARBON DIOXIDE BY TITRATION
– Scale 0.0 to 10.0 mg/L (ppm) CO2 in increments of 0.1 mg/L
– The scale 0.0 to 50.0 mg/L (ppm) CO2 in increments of 0.5 mg/L
– The scale 0 to 100 mg/L (ppm) CO2 in increments of 1 mg/L
REAGENTS ARE CLEARLY LABELED AND QUANTIFIED
– Reagents are coded and named for easy use with step-by-step instructions.
- Cost savings.
– Reagents can be purchased again when they run out without having to repurchase the entire item code.
