COD High Range Reagent 0-15000mg/L (25 Tests) HI93754C-25

Producer:
SKU: HANNA-HI93754C-25 Category:

– Used to measure COD from 0 to 15000 mg/LO2

– For use with HI833xx and HI801 meters

– REQUIRED to use with SAMPLE DESTRUCTOR

– By dichromate method EPA at @610nm

– Pre-mixed tubes are easy to use, 1 tube for 1 time use

– Supplied with COA

– Printed with batch number and expiration date

1 box of COD reagent HI93754C-25 contains 25 reagent vials.

The reagent is designed for use with samples having a range of 0 to 15000mg/LO.2.

High quality reagents comply with EPA method 410.4. In this method, thermal digestion is required to oxidize the organic matter in the sample. During digestion, hexavalent chromium in the reagent is reduced to trivalent chromium. The amount of reduced chromium is then measured colorimetrically. The color intensity is determined by a compatible photometer and the COD concentration is displayed in mg/LO2

REQUIRED USE WITH SAMPLE DIGESTIONER

In this method, thermal digestion is required to oxidize the organic matter in the sample. During digestion, hexavalent chromium in the reagent is reduced to trivalent chromium. The amount of reduced chromium is then measured colorimetrically. The color intensity is determined by a compatible photometer and the COD concentration is displayed in mg/L (ppm) O2.

1 TUBE FOR 1 MEASUREMENT

Hanna COD tubes contain approximately 3ml of pre-dosed reagent so the user simply needs to add a small amount of sample.

Since the ampoules are pre-dosed, preparation time before measurement is significantly reduced and time-consuming reagent preparation or glassware cleaning procedures are eliminated, while also saving chemicals and handling time.

COD reagent tubes and caps are designed to avoid reagent spillage during use.

COD MEASUREMENT METHODS

EPA – EPA approved method 410.4 for the determination of COD requires the use of mercuric sulfate (HgSO4). Mercury sulfate is included in the EPA reagent vials to reduce interference from chloride in the sample. This is a common requirement in wastewater treatment plants and food manufacturing facilities that often have high chloride concentrations in their wastewater. When using EPA reagents, it is important to properly dispose of the vials after use, as mercury is harmful to the environment and should be recycled.

Dichromate – The dichromate method is adapted from the EPA and ISO standard methods for determining COD, used to measure COD concentrations up to 1500 mg/LO2. For samples with high concentrations in the range of 0 to 15000 mg/LO2, dichromate reagent can be used for more accurate COD determination. It is important to dispose of the ampoules after use because mercury is harmful to the environment, so recycling should be used.

Mercury free – For those who do not want to use mercury chemicals, they will use mercury-free reagents to determine COD. The reagents will be more susceptible to chloride interference, because they do not contain mercury sulfate. When using mercury-free reagents, the post-use processing will be easier because they are not harmful to the environment.

ISO – The ISO standard approving method 15705 for the determination of COD also requires the use of mercuric sulfate (HgSO4) to reduce chloride interference. Also contains the same chemical reagent as the EPA method, it is important that ISO ampoules are disposed of after use because mercury is harmful to the environment, so recycling is recommended.
