Brushless Servo C Series Motor Drive Module

—The NI‑9502 is a single‑axis module that can drive three-phase brushless servo motors. Motor control, which is traditionally fixed in drive firmware, is implemented using an FPGA and is fully customizable in the LabVIEW FPGA Module with LabVIEW SoftMotion Module motor control VIs. The NI‑9502 provides an alternative to expensive and time-consuming custom drive development or paying a drive vendor for custom firmware. Furthermore, the NI‑9502 eliminates large stand-alone motor drives and unwieldy cabling to enable highly embedded motion systems.

The NI-9502 (Part number: 781282-01) is a C Series Motor Drive Module manufactured by National Instruments. The NI‑9502 is a solo alliance, brushless servo motor drive. This module includes motor outputs for power connections and Hall effect sensor inputs. It also has motor outputs for brushless. It has a motor output current of 4 A continuous/8 A peak. The NI 9502 C Series Module sends back the motor current to the LabVIEW FPGA module. This current is used for looping or monitoring. With minor changes in the settings, the NI-9502 can operate in different modes. These modes include Trapezoidal or Field Oriented Control (FOC) commutation mode.
